Dano ~ Kno Ur Limit (New Release)

It’s quite hard to find a song where the lyrics compliment the beat behind it, however, on the latest single released by rapper Dano titled “Kno Ur Limit,” this is done skillfully. Though a relatively simple track, Dano brings forth the perfect concoction of sinuosity and genius flow. The beat alone is honestly enough to have you hooked, but if that doesn’t meet your satisfaction, the background vocals brought forth are bound to. Though an essentially minuscule detail, they can easily determine whether a song is a hit or a miss, and for Dano, the background vocals definitely play a huge role in the execution. “Kno Ur Limit” masters balancing the right amount of buoyancy and mellow vibes thus contributing to the perfect medley. Good luck keeping this song out of your rotation.

Dano is a rising rapper based in the DMV whose crazy work ethic and refreshing energy is definitely something to look out for. Follow him on social media to keep updated on all of his creative endeavors 👇🏾

Jack Vance – SteeloSoul Vol. 1

Name: Jack Vance

IG | Twitter: @JackVance_

Age: 21

Sign: Taurus

Craft(s): Songwriting, Production

1. What is the SteeloSoul series?

The SteeloSoul series are my thoughts in a nutshell. The project is a non cohesive body of work that shows my life at its most vulnerable. It an expression that lives aren’t just in one place at one time: they’re everywhere. I’m trying to show the people that I’m human too.

2. Tell us a little bit about West Oak? How did it start? Who does it comprise of?

WestOak is a Company I brought together in Denton, TX. I called Jared (@aunixthewolf) about a meeting to set up a team of people who work and do things together musically. He then called Evan (@Evan_DJones), who called Blake (@blake_cris) and Aaron (@Chemztat), and we all had a sit down. We came up with the name based on the street we recorded on: West Oak Street.Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

3. What’s your most favorite and least favorite part of being an artist in the music industry?

My favorite part is the collaborations: The different minds that come together to make a beautiful vision come to life. I love it because it makes me believe that anything is possible. My least favorite part is the politics of course. I won’t go into it much, but I know a lot of things go on behind the scenes.

4. Where have you been deriving your inspiration from lately?

To be honest, a lot of inspiration has been coming from my girlfriend, Kiki. She has really been lighting a fire in me. Besides being my favorite person in the world, she motivates me to get up and keep working on the dream. Also, my musical family here in Denton inspire me everyday in different ways.unnamed (1)

5. Kids Next Door or Rocket Power?

Easy: Otto was much cooler than Numbah 1.

6. Who is in your music rotation right now?

Tame Impala, Caravan Palace, Anderson. Paak, The Black Keys, Vince Staples, Kanye West (Always), Hiatus Kaiyote, Childish Gambino, Corinne Bailey Rae, Joyce Wrice, and Joey BadA$$.

Yancy E. – Now I Gotta Rap (New Release)

Yancy E. Is an upcoming DMV rapper who just recently dropped his second project titled, “Now I Gotta Rap.” The tape had a cartoon-ish feel , as if charlie brown one day decided to rap about his daily life. If Chalk Zone were to exist in 2015, then Yancy definitely took his skills back to the pavement. Produced by Yung Lysol , “Now I Gotta Rap” is a self-portrait of the new chapter that Yancy attempted to draw with only a bucket of chalk. If “Bitz’ N Bops” was his debut, then “Now I Gotta Rap” is Yancy E.’s “The Dark Night.” With this project, he really experiments more with his production while the lyrics stay true to his lifestyle and personality. It’s as if Stan Lee drew a comic about his life as an innocent bystander making appearances in super hero scenarios. My favorite song off the project was “Pussy Scoring/Tity Drop” because I liked the ferocity of the instrumental and lyrics. Maybe the rap game doesn’t need anymore super heroes, since we have people like Yancy who can create comic book-like portraits of their experiences. After experiencing an amazing tape, we believe Yancy will keep balancing on water with his Air Jesus 11s. Check out “Bitz’ N Bops” and “Now I Gotta Rap” on yancye.com, and follow him on Twitter & Instagram @yunglysol.
